My husband Tommy Griesedieck and I purchased Lyon School in 2003.We now live in the rehabbed limestone one room schoolhouse, which serves as my studio , gallery and our home. We fell in love with the place when it was “raw”, having been used for storage for 50 years. Lyon School served the local children from 1868 to 1953. We’ve gotten to know many folks who attended school here, including our contractor ! We worked with an architect who helped us envision and develop our design ideas. Then the 830 Sq. Ft building was beautifully restored by local artisans and craftsmen. We added an additional 400 Sq Ft for our kitchen and bath, and have plans to add on more space . Our schoolhouse is situated on 15 acres of high grassland that we are restoring to a native prairie. My husband’s talent is in landscape design and planting , and he is working with native stone and plants to make our surrounding gardens and land a work of art as well.
I have two Studio Sales annually , in June and December. I invite art lovers to my studio & gallery anytime by appointment as well . I also invite artists to my monthly figure study group, and teach individual and small group plein air and studio painting here at Lyon School . Call to schedule and discuss fees .
Here are a few photos of our project from purchase to where we are now, plus studio sales and art group events.
